Metamorfosi is located in the northwestern part of Sithonia, Halkidiki. The village has approximately 400 permanent residents and is 32 km from Polygyros and 98 km from Thessaloniki.

The residents of Metamorfosi are refugees from the Middle East. They are very hospitable and willing to offer their services to both locals and foreign tourists. As a tourist village, it is perhaps the most beautiful in Northern Greece. It is built on a lush green hillside with pine trees, next to the sea. The golden sandy beaches, the deep blue and crystal-clear waters of the sea, combined with the intricately shaped coastline, make Metamorfosi a very popular destination not only in Greece, but also across Europe. The golden sandy beaches, the deep blue and crystal-clear waters of the sea, combined with the intricately shaped coastline, make Metamorfosi a very popular destination not only in Greece, but also across Europe. Its geographical location is one of the reasons why Metamorfosi enjoys one of the best climates in Greece (mild), with cool summers and gentle winters, without humidity—a very rare combination that few people know about.

Additionally, in 1950, the Ministry of Education selected Metamorfosi—among all the villages of Northern Greece— to establish the first camp, which continues to operate to this day.
